When it all began
In the 1890s, the US automotive industry began, through the use of large quantities of production and large domestic market, and quickly evolved into the largest automaker in the world (although this title is From the United States from Japan in the 1980s, and from Japan from China in 2008).
US automotive industry actually began with hundreds of manufacturers, but in the late 1920s, three companies distinguished themselves from the rest:
General Motors

Chrysler
Big Three
And the pursuit of these three businesses flourished, even after the Great Depression and the Second World War. Henry Ford began to build cars in 1896 and began the Ford Motor Co. in 1903. Former Buick president and former GM executive director, control signed Walter Chrysler of Maxwell Motor Company in 1920, redesigned it, reorganized to the Chrysler Corporation in 1925. Chrysler acquired the Dodge brothers in 1927, and in 1928, DeSoto made and the Plymouth brands business through its network of dealers and manufacturing that has come with the acquisition of Dodge facilities. In the 1930s, and it surpassed Chrysler and Ford became the second largest car producer.
1950 and beyond
In 1950, America produced nearly 75 percent of all cars in the world. In the early 1970s, however, companies and the US auto industry (and especially the three adults) were severely affected by increased competition from foreign manufacturers and rising oil prices. In the following years, businesses rebounded in some cases, but the crisis peaked in 2008, making Chrysler and General Motors pay a demand for bankruptcy reorganization and being bailed out by the federal government.
